Broward County Jail

Clothing

Interview with James and Charles

JM: What types of clothes were most common?
James: The "scrub" type uniform that you have to pay $10.00 for, except at Conte and Violent inmates that wore jumpsuits.
Charles: Is this for real? The uniform they give you..... Any convict knows that before getting locked up throw on a sweater, two tall t-s and a white pair of shoes with no metal in them.

JM: Did you have a set uniform? What did it look like?
James: Yes. Scrubs or Jumpsuits, Dark blue, light blue, tan, green, orange, red, striped.
Charles: Like a jail uniform. Green in broward, blue in palm beach.

JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned?
James: Just bigger sizes for comfort.
Charles: If your a big guy your hard to find any uniform let alone a newer one. People compete for newer uniforms.

JM: Was the clothing different between men and women?
James: No.
Charles: Nope.
